We've had a house guest for the past week. As a result, I've been eating too much, drinking too much and smoking too much.
Our guest loves to dine out, so I've been eating a lot of restaurant meals. Unfortunately, that means too-big portions and lots of extra calories. I've also been skimping on workouts... it's just hard to get active when everyone else wants to plop on the couch and watch TV.
I know there are lots of folks out there with these types of circumstances, like an unsupportive spouse, a lazy roommate or a busy family life. What do you do to combat all the things that interfere with healthy eating and regular workouts?
I know I should just say, "Excuse me, House Guest, but I have to go workout now. Feel free to watch whatever you want on TV." I should also choose healthy meals in restaurants, watch my portion sizes, and offer to cook more healthy meals at home.
It just seems as if lazy behavior is almost contagious!

I SO know that feeling! And I'm glad to say that our houseguest is gone. I went to the gym anyway myself, but my husband normally went straight home so it wasn't quite so bad....
I think it's okay to let yourself be bad for a week as long as you know it's finite and make sure you get back on track! (Unless you have visitors EVERY week, I guess. ;))
Only YOU have to power to make the choices you did.
If YOU truly wanted to be healthier, you would have NOT smoked, drank or ate poorly.
If YOU wanted to exercise, YOU would have found a way.
Guess you aren't as fit/healthy/strong as you like to brag about are you?
I have the exact same problem. All we can do is get back at it. The success comes from getting back at it, not being perfect.
What's with that anon comment? Holy harshness batman! One of the things I come back to your blog for is because you are so candid about your successes AND your failures...maybe anon was thinking of someone else's blog...
LOL... Well, anon is certainly entitled to his/her opinion... although obviously anon doesn't read my blog regularly, since I don't really *brag* about my health here. If anything, I think, I often share my struggles on this journey toward fitness. I do think it's important to reveal my successes AND failures. I don't believe that occasionally falling off the wagon makes us less fit or healthy or strong. It simply makes us human.
