Going Through The Motions

I'm totally stressed.

Work. Family. Life.

Hey... we all go through stress, right?

But I'm not so great at handling it.

Anyway... at this point--when it comes to my workouts--I'm just going through the motions. My body is there, lifting weights or running along the street. But my mind is elsewhere. I'm completely disengaged.

I've had to bring my runs indoors during the last week, thanks to the snow. Maybe that's the problem. Maybe I need to be outside to really feel connected. Something about the "dreadmill" just makes my runs feel... well... automated.

I haven't yet made it to a single Tae Kwon Do class this month. I just haven't had it in me.

And with regards to my February challenge of working out in the morning... well... I can't say I've been successful there, either.

But at least I'm working out.

Maybe I'm not totally present during my workouts. And maybe they're in the evening instead of the morning. But at least I'm doing it. At least I'm showing up.

Keeping the habit is half the battle.

Sometimes all you can do is just show up. Hang in there, things do get better.

As you said, half the battle is getting there.

Maybe a change of workouts? New music?

Cruise in the caribbean? OOOH, that would be so nice right now!

Can you get out on your lunch hour, even for a walk? Get some sun and Vit. D into you!

Have a good weekend.

I think keeping the habits up is way more than half the battle.

Sometimes things other than food and working out are going to take our energy--any of us. I doubt you are any worse than the rest of us at handling stress, as many people keep up only an illusion of handling stress well. Congratulate yourself on keeping up the battle right now; don't let NOT doing more get you down. You are doing REALLY well.

Well like you said at least you are doing it.

Just do the best you can do, and be proud you are trying.

Just keep on going and you'll get through. You'll make it through. Stress is definitly tough, but something that has to be dealt with. Just remember to stop and breathe sometimes. It will help.
