As I mentioned in my last post, I never felt like an athlete during my life. As a result, I missed out on a lot of fun activities in my youth.
For example, I never went on the numerous ski trips held by my high school classmates. (We have slopes nearby.)
Well, it looks like I'm getting an opportunity to ski or snowboard next week. But I've never tried either of them!
I've heard they're different. Anyone got any opinions about their differences? Do you prefer one or the other?

Well, I haven't done either so I have not opinion or advise. However, I hope you really enjoy it, and I can't wait to hear the details!
I live 45 min from the ski slopes.. but I havent gone skiing in years.. mostly because the two times that we had awsome snow storms and they opened the mountain all the way to the top, I was pregnant! LOL
I personally prefer skiing. I have bad knees and I feel like it puts less torq on them. Besides, I have better balance on them then a snowboard... .but snowboarding is fun too. The only problem, like I said, is that when you fall the board does not come off, which puts a lot of strain on my knees.
anyway, which ever one you decide on... I wish you tons of fun!!!
Haven't done either - Never fancied it to be honest.
Aparently it is a good way to keep fit though - hope you enjoy it anyway.
Good luck or break a leg whatever you are supposed to say lol.
Ive tried both in the past and would say that skiing is probably easier for a beginner. Mostly because even standing on a board can be very uncomfortable and discouraging, while standing on skis is pretty comfortable and the initial moves are fairly easy to master (They use a technique for kids called "Pizza and French Fries" based on the shapes you skis make).
Hope you have fun with whatever you choose!
I have not tried any one, so I don't have an opinion. I do hope that you have fun when you try them though.
Enjoy it for me!
People have told me you can learn skiing in one trip but need three days to get a grasp of snow-boarding. So if you have one day, I'd try skiing!
I've only skiied and it is a blast!
Any chance to take a lesson? Could always try the Snowboarding w/ a lesson and see how it goes.
Don't forget to wear your helmet!
